Quick update, My new art book is for sale in my main store (first link on store page).  It's 8x11 full color Hard Cover with 55 pages of general art, sketches, comics, toons, and a few game illustrations inside. I was also able to include some work i couldn't sale as individual prints, but i could sale in this book. The cost is $45 which includes shipping. The pics above show some of the book, i am not sure how long i will have this volume for sale, but if you miss it, i am working on a new series to launch later next year, allowing this book to close out the "day dreamin @ nite" series, which had 4 volumes including this one. This is the first to be in hard cover so pick it up for a gift to self, someone else, or your coffee table!!!!

New Store open....

so i am using a different site to host my store now. The same items give or take a few additions, but i will be adding other items over the next few days as well. This will also have digital items like books and screen savers etc, and sketches etc. The main reason for the switch is more room to display more items and also the overhead for the store itself. This is not to say i won't use Big Cartel again, i have some other ideas for it, but for now i will us this current layout with Storenvy and Society6. Society six simply offers prints of a different nature from what i mail out myself and items like t shirts and electronics covees for ipods, iphones, laptops, etc.  The shipping has been worked out a little differently, still trying to find ways to keep shipping down for international sales and not loose money in the process, but the rates are prety decent over all, considering i literally sale my prints for 5, the rest of the cost goes to the package and actual shipping fees. Other artist (nothing against them at all, we each have different cost to produce and my own cost could change) charge $15 and hihger just for the prints. So please understand, and support, spread the word, NC comic Con next week, Charlotte ComiCon in December, and i hope to be at another one in January to kick the year off. Then i will be figuring out the rest of the year and posting accordingly!!

Quick update.....

On the store page and off to the right side, i added a link to a second store, society6, that sells framed prints using a different process from my prints that i offer in my main store, also, through this store you can buy iphone cases, laptop and iPod skins, and other various products. So check it out when you can....

Also i updated my twitter "button" and will soon be adding a YouTube page as well. This channel will host things related to my art and travels, but also just cool stuff i am working on or into.....

Also, i will be at the NC Con in Durham Nov. 17th and 18th. Check the news section for location. After that it will be the Charlotte ComiCon, i will update the date and location....

as always, thank you for the support

Work In Progress pics...

just posting because, this is for a cover of a future Black Panda Book.... also, check the previous update about the shipping working correctly now in my store....

Shipping Fixed in Store....

So, I have finally corrected some issues with shipping from my store. I have had some ups and downs with getting it in order and now it is set. It's not that the technology was flawed, just my understanding o it. This caused refunds to be issued in the past and it also more than likely stopped some of you from buying from the store. Some of the issues i wasn't aware of cause i had only did small sampling of how the shipping was being done and other problems i knew of and was working to fix. I am happy to say that while working on certain issues, i stumbled upon other issues and now have the shipping matter under control. The one thing i have yet to set at a rate i feel good about is the actual shipping rates, more or less for outside of the US than here. I shipped items overseas before and to Canada as well in the past and i don't remember the rates being what they are now. I did some extensive research and couldn't find any cheaper solutions. I wish i could fix the cost to ship in other areas and balance it better. Here i am simply charging for the packaging and shipping, which isn't very high. For out of U.S. orders i am charging the same thing but the cost is much more. If anyone has found cheaper options please let me know. I guess over all it isn't too bad when i look at what some people charge for prints in general. For the same price of just their print, you get the print and shipping. But i still like keeping cost down. Either way, thank you all for the support and patients. Order up, pass the word, and also i will be moving my digital items, e.g. wallpapers and digi books to a digital store to free up space in my printed store for other items. Same button will link you to two link options to visit either store!!

Hey, been a while....

...since i last updated anything on here. i added a few things to the portfolio, and will post a few items here as well. I still have work from others i have clearance to post and have yet to do so. Reviews for some books as well, and i haven't had the chance to post that either...  nope, not lazy, just fighting to stay working. More now than ever, i no longer have a "day" job, for various reasons, but the main thing being that i am determined to do what i actually do. Art. Design. Graphics. Concepts. and slowly... Animation. Like i said, there are other reason behind my departure from my day job, some being people not liking that i stand for what i believe in, and actively pursue it. A few good friends and myself are forming a company and will be pushing to establish our small mark on the face of the visual world. It may be hard, but we all do things we hate just to get by, why not fight for what you love and enjoy even if you just barely do the same. If it so happens to blossom into something larger, so be it. Alan Watts spoke on this a lot, and so have many others. I heard a guy who owns a pizza place in Chicago say  he couldn't live life doing something he didn't love. maybe it's a hard road, but it's a road worth traveling. Now i am not saying leave what you are doing, that is a choice you must make, however, i am saying pursue what you believe in and get as good if not great at it as you can. Then... get better!! If you can give 30 or 40 or more hours to some elses dream or establishment, can't you give half of that at the least to yourself?

Crazy thing is i am doing all this after coming off of two of my most beloved cons that went really wrong this year lol. Baltimore has been great to me for two years in a row. Somehow this year i ended up in the corner of doom, and it showed. I know placement at cons makes a huge difference in how much traffic you get when your indie. Big Names can sit anywhere and people will hunt them down. If your not as known, even if people like your work, you may be sought out for a little while, but then you fall to the way side so to speak. Then for those who don't know you, thy just aren't looking for you and if they don't stumble upon you in Artist Alley, then you become just another missed artist. There is an attempt to give as many artist a chance to show at the cons as possible, but at some point someone has to be in the gutters so to speak. I guess this was my year. But i know how great Baltimore con generally is, so even though i made nearly noting this year, i will be returning next year hopefully and using a different system newt year to bring people to wherever i may be. At the end of the day, you can't make people buy, well maybe you can if your an aggressive sales person, but what you can do is make yourself as visible as possible.  So i am prepping a strategy that will help a bit. It will at least expose my work to others and if they don't like what they see, they won't come looking, if they do.... i increase the chance of them coming my way. Nothing is fail proof, but i have to make sure i have done all i can on my end. SO i will sign up much earlier next year, though i signed up pretty early this year, it will be earlier this year. Then i will execute my other ideas as well.... this will apply to the other cons also, placement is key, but sometimes you have to find the people so they can find you....

The other Con that was great last year that went not so great this year was Cola Con in Columbia SC. When i say not so great i mean i didn't meet my goals in sales, but the event itself was great. This wasn't about placement because i was in a good place, but instead it was more or less just not as many people as it felt was there the year before. Not much i can do about that as it seems there were other events going on that hurt the turn out greatly. But the people who did come had a great time and it gave me homie Kiser and i a chance to build with LeSean Thomas a bit before watching GhostFace Killah perform with Sheek Looch. LeSean is a cool kat and very down to earth, it was cool chatting with him a bit once the crowd let him breathe a second. I also got to chop it up with the homie Sanford Greene as well. Another good dude. Overall a great event, just tough timing. But if allowed, i am there next year as well!!

So i lost money, left a job, and the battle to become known in a really tough industry moves forward. I have confidence, faith, though shaking at times.... it is there and so am i.... so here is some work, new prints going up in the gallery as well as a sale on prints. Check back for details!!!! Durham is next for NC Con... i hope it goes well....

peace to all

HEllo all!

I have been swamped with a lot but yet not much at all. My mac book pro went on the blitz and i was having a hard time finishing work, i now have that in order and can work again, but now i am raising funds to over cost to replace some programs. SO for this, i am doing 6x10 black and white single character drawings for $10.00. I will do these for a small time, email me if you would like to see a few i am doing at random or if you would like to order a one or a couple of your own choosing. These an be original characters or current characters in the world!!

Ok, also, i did the comic Con at Indian Trail Library and had a blast, lots of fun with the kids and parents that came by and i really enjoyed it all. It was a fun event and i met some good people including Mr. John Tompkins and his brilliant son and Daughter. I was very thankful to be there and to have met them and talked comics, toys, games with them!!

Heroes con has come and gone. I enjoyed it as i always do, its home and i wouldn't miss ever if it were just up to me. I had a blast, delivered some work i owed some who pre ordered and picked up some more work to get to others on the list.  I was left feeling some what incomplete after Heroes,
But i enjoyed myself as always!! I look forward to next year and hope to see you there as well....

I was also fortunate enough to pick up some cool commission work, i have a on of work i did for a gentleman who has worked with me for over a year now i think, that i have yet to post or post links to just from being slack on the web so that i am not slack on the work lol. But i will post Mr. Patrick's well written excerpts and links to his site and blog as well as links to reviews my two books, Legend of the Black PandaS and Fairy Tale Knights received. Up above is a commission i did for a now good friend Phil. I was suppose to make this my header but i need to do some reformatting and put it up....

Also,  i will be doing Charlotte ComiCon in August, gotta check the dates, and Cola Con in Oct. on the 5th and 6th in Columbia SC. I will update my events in a day or so and also my page on work like illustration, design, etc.

Aight, so for now that brings things some what up to date, more to come,
peace
